Police have implemented a special security and traffic management plan for the final Randoli Perahera of the Kandy Esala Perahera, scheduled to be held tomorrow (August 27).The final procession is scheduled to commence at 6:43 p.m. and will travel approximately 2.15 kilometres along Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kande Veediya, D. S. Senanayake Veediya and Raja Veediya before returning to the Temple of the Sacred

 Tooth Relic.

Special alternative traffic routes will be in operation in Kandy city throughout the duration of the procession.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Katugastota towards Kandy will be directed from the Mahaiyawa Junction along Tilak Ratnayake Mawatha and through Police Junction to enter Kandy city.

Light vehicles arriving from Katugastota can travel along D. S. Senanayake Veediya, turn onto Cross Street and proceed to Yatinuwara Veediya. They can then turn right and, near the Meeramakkam Mosque, turn left towards Tilak Ratnayake Mawatha.

Vehicles leaving Kandy towards Katugastota can travel from Police Junction along Tilak Ratnayake Mawatha towards Mahaiyawa.

Vehicles arriving from Thanne Kumbura and Ampitiya will be directed along Sangharaja Mawatha to Wales Park Junction, then turn right onto Ehelepola Kumarihamy Mawatha and proceed near Bogambara and the railway station. Vehicles travelling towards Colombo will use the left side, while those heading towards Kandy city will use the right side.

Vehicles can also enter Kandy city from Rajapihilla Mawatha Junction via Palliye Road.

Vehicles travelling from Kandy towards Ampitiya and the Teldeniya Road can proceed from the Clock Tower Roundabout along Dalada Veediya, pass the side entrance of the Queen's Hotel and the Joy Boat Service, and continue along Sangharaja Mawatha.

Traffic travelling towards Ampitiya and Thanne Kumbura can also use Ehelepola Kumarihamy Mawatha, Rajapihilla Mawatha, Wales Park Junction and Sangharaja Mawatha via the Bogambara Roundabout.

Palliye Road will be divided to facilitate traffic movement in both directions.

Meanwhile, motorists travelling between Colombo and Kandy city will be able to use William Gopallawa Mawatha and the Old Peradeniya Road in both directions.

Police have urged motorists to follow the temporary traffic arrangements and cooperate with officers deployed along the procession route.
