The Cabinet has approved a proposal to develop connector roads linking Sections I, III and IV of the Central Expressway with the existing road network in the Western, Central and North-Western provinces.
The project is aimed at improving connectivity, accessibility and traffic flow between the expressway and regional road networks.
Under the approved plan, 12 connector roads with a combined length of 117.68 kilometres will be developed for Section I of the Central Expressway.
A further 14 connector roads spanning 83.98 kilometres are planned for Section III, while nine connector roads covering 81.36 kilometres will be developed for Section IV.
The preliminary total cost of the proposed infrastructure development is estimated at Rs. 104.9 billion.
The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development to implement the connector road development programme between 2026 and 2030.
