Eleven personnel of the Sri Lanka Navy have been rescued and hospitalized following an accident involving a Dvora vessel in the seas off Angulana.

According to the Navy Media Spokesperson, an operation was launched after information was received that the vessel had encountered distress, with efforts immediately initiated to rescue the personnel on board.

Following a request from the Sri Lanka Navy, the Sri Lanka Air Force also joined the rescue operation.

The SLAF Media Spokesperson stated that an Mi-17 helicopter and a Bell 412 helicopter were deployed to monitor the distressed vessel and provide assistance during the rescue operation.

The rescued Navy personnel were subsequently taken to hospital for medical treatment. Further details regarding the circumstances of the accident and the condition of those hospitalized are expected to be released by the authorities.
