Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology has issued a heat weather advisory for seven districts, warning residents to take precautions against elevated temperatures.


The advisory covers Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts.

According to the Department, the heat index the temperature as felt by the human body could reach levels requiring attention in some areas of these districts during the daytime.

The advisory was issued at 4:00 p.m. on August 13 and will remain valid until August 14.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions against excessive heat, particularly during the hottest hours of the day.
