The government has declared July 27 to 31 as National Clean Governance Week to officially launch the “Ethical Culture – Clean Sri Lanka” national initiative aimed at promoting integrity, transparency, and ethical standards across the public service.
A circular signed by Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake has been issued to all government institutions, directing them to implement the programme in collaboration with the Clean Sri Lanka National Programme from the designated week onwards.
The initiative seeks to foster a culture of ethical conduct throughout society while promoting civic values and responsible citizenship as the foundation for building a cleaner and more disciplined Sri Lanka.
The government said the programme forms part of its broader objective of improving the quality, efficiency, and transparency of the public service while establishing an exemplary state administration free from corruption.
The initiative also aims to cultivate a professional public service that prioritises the public interest over personal gain, upholds ethical values and professional standards, and delivers citizen-friendly services with integrity and accountability.
During National Clean Governance Week, the program will be implemented under five key themes, Ethical and law-abiding public service, Ethical digital public service, Ethical society that upholds human dignity, Ethical and transparent operational systems, Ethical and sustainable green culture
The government expects the initiative to strengthen ethical governance, improve public confidence in state institutions, and support the country’s broader efforts to create a transparent, accountable, and service-oriented public sector.
