Southwesterly winds are forecast at speeds of 30–40 kmph, with stronger winds of up to 50–60 kmph expected at times in sea areas extending from Batticaloa to Pottuvil via Trincomalee, Kankasanthurai, Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Sea conditions in these areas are expected to be rough at times, while other sea areas around the island are likely to remain moderate.
Wave heights may rise between 2.0 and 3.0 metres in the sea areas from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota. Authorities noted that this warning applies only to sea areas and not to land regions.
Fishermen and naval communities are advised to exercise caution, as temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can occur during thundershowers.
