The launch of the programme will be held in the Malimbada area under the patronage of Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Officials said the payments are being made following a detailed assessment of agricultural damage recorded over seven consecutive cultivation seasons, covering the period from the 2019 Yala season to the 2022 Yala season.
The Board explained that compensation values were calculated using its standard evaluation framework, which considers production costs as well as prevailing paddy prices.
A total of Rs. 1,200 million has been allocated in the 2026 Budget for this initiative, which is expected to benefit over 5,000 eligible farmers.
The decision follows Cabinet approval to provide financial relief for farmers who suffered losses after flooding impacts linked to the construction of the Nilwala River salt barrier, which affected paddy cultivation in the region during the relevant seasons.
