Minister Abeyratne stated that nearly 98% of payments under the first phase of the pension revision process have already been completed.
According to the minister, 463,000 individuals are currently registered with the Department of Pensions, while payments have so far been issued to around 429,000 pensioners.
He also revealed that approximately 2,500 new pension beneficiaries are added to the system each month.
The minister further noted that an online system introduced through Divisional Secretariat offices is currently being used to accelerate the pension payment process. Through the digital platform, the records of nearly 397,154 pension recipients have already been computerized.
