The meeting, chaired by Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputhanthri, focused on final arrangements for the Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone and measures related to energy management during Vesak celebrations.
Committee members responsible for organizing and coordinating the Vesak Zone briefed participants on preparations and implementation plans for the event.
Chief Incumbent of Gangaramaya Temple, Venerable Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thero, said that despite the Government's decision to ease restrictions, organisers had decided to use fuel and electricity more economically this year due to prevailing challenges.
He stated that arrangements had been made to maintain the spiritual essence of Vesak while minimising energy consumption, with greater emphasis on Prathipaththi Pooja and creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere for devotees through Amisa Pooja.
Venerable Assaji Thero also said the Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone would be open daily from 7.00 p.m. to 12.30 a.m.
Representatives from the Tri-Forces, Sri Lanka Police, Civil Security Department, Department of Prisons, and officials from the Ministries of Energy and Defence also attended the meeting.
