Measures are underway for the full development of the Valaichchenai Harbour, a key fisheries hub in the Eastern Province, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
Discussions at the Batticaloa District Coordination Committee Meeting also highlighted the need for improved harbour infrastructure, including the establishment of a lighthouse facility.
Authorities said the upgrade is expected to strengthen fishing operations and maritime safety in the region.
