According to the police, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Hungama Police Station had received a tip-off indicating that a consignment of cattle was being illegally transported in a lorry. Acting swiftly on the information, police officers set up a strategic roadblock in Kattakaduwa to intercept the vehicle.

When the suspected lorry approached the checkpoint, the driver defied police signals to pull over, slammed past the barrier, and sped away from the scene.

This prompted a high-speed pursuit as officers chased the fleeing vehicle. Despite repeated warnings to pull over, the driver continued to drive recklessly, forcing the police to open fire at the lorry to safely bring it to a halt.

Following the interception, police arrested four suspects who were inside the vehicle. The Hungama Police are conducting further investigations.
