Lakthilake alleged that serious concerns have arisen due to an alleged four-month “cover-up” of the financial fraud by the Finance Ministry Secretary.
He has therefore urged the President and Minister of Health, Nalinda Jayatissa, to order a psychological autopsy into the death.
Commenting further, Lakthilake stated that a team of forensic medical officers had officially ruled the death a suicide. However, he expressed skepticism, citing past controversies surrounding forensic reports in Sri Lanka.
