The deceased, Lance Corporal A.P. Mariyalujisan of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Services, had been serving with the 12 (V) Engineer Services Regiment since joining the Army on June 1, 2014.
He sustained critical injuries in a train accident in Murikandy on April 19 and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. He later passed away while receiving treatment.
The final rites were conducted with full military honors, attended by senior officers, fellow soldiers, family members, and residents of the area, who gathered to pay their last respects.
