The accident occurred on the Thalpitiya bridge when an express train traveling from Beliatta to Maradana hit the four people.
Police stated that an 87-year-old British national died in the incident.
A foreign couple, a Sri Lankan man, and his child were among those involved in the accident. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were standing on the railway track taking photographs when the train struck them.
The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Panadura Hospital.
Pinwatta Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
