According to the advisory released today (07) at 3:30 p.m., the warning will remain valid until tomorrow (08). The department stated that the “feels-like” temperature in several areas could reach levels that require public attention.

It is stated that the “feels-like” temperature for the human body may reach levels that require caution in the Sabaragamuwa, North Western, and North Central provinces, as well as in the Colombo, Gampaha, Vavuniya, Mannar, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.

The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize possible health impacts caused by the high temperatures. Residents in the affected areas are advised to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in shaded places whenever possible.

Special attention is recommended for elderly individuals and those with existing health conditions. The department also warned against leaving young children unattended inside vehicles.

In addition, people are encouraged to limit strenuous outdoor activities and wear light-colored, lightweight clothing to help cope with the heat.
