According to the association, a recently issued gazette notification states that the Customs Import Duty (CID) rate will be increased from 20 percent to 30 percent. At the same time, the existing 50 percent customs duty surcharge will be removed through a separate gazette notification.

The association noted that due to these adjustments, there will be no change in the overall customs duty component applied to imported vehicles.

However, from April 1, 2026, an additional cost will arise with the implementation of the 2.5 percent Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL) on imports.

The Vehicle Importers Association emphasized that apart from the SSCL, the restructuring of the duty components will not increase the total customs duty currently imposed on vehicle imports.
