An Attorney-at-Law by profession, S. K. Sangakkara was a respected legal practitioner and a well-known figure in Kandy.
According to the family, his remains will lie at his residence in Kandy to allow relatives and friends to pay their last respects. The family has requested privacy during this period of mourning.
The funeral will take place on March 4, 2026 at 6.00 p.m. at the Mahaiyawa Cemetery. The cortege will leave the residence at 4.30 p.m.
In a notice issued by the family, he was described as the loving husband of Kumarie, beloved father of Thusharie, Vemindra, Saranga and Kumar, father-in-law to Sanjay, Nipuni, Ru and Yehali, and grandfather to Thehan, Methvan, Nethya, Vinaya, Kaya, Seth, Kavith and Swyree.
He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him.
