Ven. Balangoda Kassapa Thera, who was participating in a satyagraha at Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, demanding the release of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, has been hospitalised.
Those participating in the satyagraha subsequently arranged for Ven. Kassapa Thera to be taken to hospital in a Suwa Seriya ambulance.
A tense situation has reportedly developed between police officers and protesters at the site of the ongoing satyagraha.
