The Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has issued a special advisory urging all Sri Lankan nationals visiting or residing in the country to follow safety instructions issued by the Saudi authorities amid attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
The Embassy has also urged Sri Lankans to refrain from sharing unverified news, videos or social media posts and to rely only on information from verified sources.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah continue to operate as usual.
Sri Lankans requiring assistance with consular services can contact the Embassy’s emergency hotline at 054 947 7567.
Meanwhile, several airlines have cancelled flights following Houthi attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Aden International Airport in Yemen.
Attacks on Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia reportedly killed two Moroccan and Algerian nationals and injured 28 others.
A pilot employed by Saudia, the Saudi national airline, was also reported to have been killed in the attack.
