Cash Awards and Gifts Presented to Sri Lankan Winners of the 2024 International Police Association World Drawing Competition and Grade 5 Scholarship Examination Achievers
Awards and certificates were presented to the Sri Lankan winners of the 2024 Fourth Children’s Drawing Competition, organized by the Social and Cultural Commission of the International Police Association (IPA) for children aged between 6 and 12 years of police officers who are members of the Association worldwide.
The awards ceremony was held at Police Headquarters on the evening of 1 October 2026, under the patronage of Inspector General of Police Attorney-at-Law Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya.
The event was organized by the Sri Lankan Branch of the International Police Association to coincide with World Children’s Day, which fell on the same day. A total of six children who achieved victories in the drawing competition were recognized at the ceremony.
A prize worth EUR 50 was awarded to the child who secured first place and to each of the two children who secured second place. These prizes had been provided by the Social and Cultural Commission of the International Police Association to its Sri Lankan Branch. The cash prizes, together with special certificates of recognition awarded to all the winners, were presented to the children by the Inspector General of Police and Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (Administration) Mr. Sanjeewa Dharmarathne.
In addition, arrangements had been made by Woman Chief Inspector Mrs.Sunethra Senewiratne, Secretary General of the Sri Lankan Branch of the International Police Association, to present prize packages worth Rs. 15,000 each to 38 children of police officers who are members of the International Police Association and who successfully passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.
The event was attended by Staff Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Roshan Dias, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. C. C. Bamunuaarachchi, Personal Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, Woman Chief Inspector Mrs. Sunethra Senewiratne, Secretary General of the Sri Lankan Branch of the International Police Association, officials of the Sri Lankan Branch of the International Police Association, and the parents of the children.
