The Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will be held tomorrow (9) at 2,723 examination centers across the island, Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage said.
A total of 294,089 candidates are scheduled to sit for this year’s examination. Of them, 220,366 candidates have registered for the Sinhala-medium examination, while 73,723 candidates are sitting for the Tamil-medium examination.
The Department of Examinations has also reminded the public that tuition classes related to the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination ended at midnight on August 5. Promotional activities related to the examination through print or electronic media are strictly prohibited until the examination concludes.
Parents will not be permitted to enter examination centres, the Commissioner General said.
The Department of Examinations has advised candidates to arrive at their respective examination centres at least one hour before the examination begins, allowing them sufficient time to settle down and maintain their concentration.
The second question paper will be held first, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Following a short break, the first question paper will be conducted from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Candidates have been instructed to carefully read all the instructions provided on the question paper, correctly write their examination numbers, and provide their answers clearly and legibly on the question paper itself.
The Commissioner General also urged candidates not to bring mobile phones, smartwatches, notes, or any other electronic devices into the examination hall.
Parents and candidates have been requested to follow all examination regulations and ensure that children attend the examination in a calm and focused state.
