Two Police officers die while on duty at Siri Dalada Vandana

According to the Police Media Unit, the officers had been assigned to ensure security during the special exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa, which is currently being held for the eighth consecutive day.

Emergency medical teams were rushed to the scene, but both officers were pronounced dead shortly after. The identities of the deceased officers have not yet been officially released.

The Siri Dalada Vandanawa draws thousands of devotees and pilgrims from across the country, placing significant demands on security and emergency services during the period.

Authorities have launched investigations and post-mortem examinations are expected to determine the exact cause of death. The police expressed condolences to the families of the officers and assured full support during this difficult time.
