
Yasoja Gunasekera assumes duties as Sri Lanka’s HC to Australia

In her opening remarks, High Commissioner Gunasekera underscored her commitment to advancing bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Australia through enhanced cooperation in tourism, trade, investment, and people-to-people engagement. She also stressed the importance of safeguarding the welfare of Sri Lankans living in Australia and improving consular services.
A seasoned career diplomat with 29 years in the Sri Lanka Foreign Service, Gunasekera brings a wealth of experience from previous postings in Jakarta, Dhaka, Guangzhou, and pivotal roles at Sri Lankan missions in the United States and India.
An alumna of C.M.S. Ladies’ College, Colombo, she holds academic credentials from Monash University in Australia and the University of Warwick in the UK—reflecting a strong international educational background.
Pledging a collaborative approach, Gunasekera reaffirmed her dedication to fostering a deeper and more dynamic partnership between Sri Lanka and Australia, built on mutual respect and shared interests.
