Navy ensures security and welfare of devotees attending ‘Siri Dalada Wandanawa’

Visiting the city of Kandy on 23 Apr 25, the Commander of the Navy inspected security and welfare provisions made available by the Sri Lanka Navy for thousands of devotees attending ‘Siri Dalada Wandanawa’(Sacred Tooth Relic Exposition).

Since the commencement of the Sacred Tooth Relic Exposition the Navy has been in forefront ensuring security and welfare provisions for devotees attending this spiritual event in numbers.

To ensure the safety of devotees, the Navy has deployed specialized rescue and diving teams and medical personnel near Kandy Lake, with a craft equipped for first aid to handle any emergencies. In addition, the Navy has stationed personnel to chant devotional songs and is assisting in the preparation of alms (dana) for the Venerable Maha Sangha arriving for ‘Siri Dalada Wandanawa’ as well as providing meals for devotees in partnership with other stakeholders.

During the inspection visit, the Navy Commander gave directives to deploy naval personnel as needed, ensuring devotees participating in the pilgrimage could carry out their religious observances without difficulty. Additionally, he reviewed the welfare arrangements for the naval personnel assigned to these duties as well.
