20 soldiers injured in Nittambuwa accident discharged from hospital

Twenty-two Army personnel were injured in a road accident yesterday near the Manamala Junction along the Nittambuwa-Kirindiwela Road. The incident occurred when a bus transporting soldiers from Nittambuwa to Kirindiwela collided with a lorry traveling in the opposite direction.

According to police reports, the crash resulted in injuries to all 22 occupants of the bus, including the driver. Emergency services responded promptly, and all injured individuals were rushed to the Wathupitiwala Hospital for treatment.

Hospital authorities confirmed that 20 of the injured soldiers have since been discharged after receiving medical care. However, one soldier and the bus driver remain under treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Further updates are expected as the inquiry progresses
