The Railway Department has announced the initiation of special transport services for devotees making the pilgrimage to Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. In a move to support the increased travel demand during the pilgrimage period, eight special trains will operate daily to Kandy until April 28.

Among the added services, a special early morning train will depart at 2.20 AM, offering devotees an early start for their spiritual journey.

In addition, an express train will leave Colombo Fort daily at 5.00 AM, with another special train scheduled to depart at 9.00 AM. These services are intended to ease congestion and ensure a comfortable travel experience for all passengers.

Highlighting the importance of international participation, the department has also allocated a dedicated compartment on the morning express train for foreign ambassadors and diplomats visiting the sacred site.

The Railway Department encourages devotees to plan their travel in advance and make use of these special services for a smooth and safe pilgrimage.
