Postal Voting Dates Revised for 2025 LG Elections

In a statement issued today, the Chairman of the National Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake, confirmed that postal voting will now take place on April 24, 25, 28, and 29.

“Accordingly, it has been decided that the marking of postal votes for all government institutions, including the police, tri-forces, schools, corporations, and statutory boards, will be conducted on these four days,” Rathnayake said.

The Commission emphasized the importance of adhering to the revised schedule to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process. Further instructions and guidelines will be issued to relevant institutions in the coming days to facilitate the process.

The Local Government Elections are expected to see participation from millions of voters across the country, as citizens prepare to elect representatives to local bodies responsible for grassroots governance and development.
