The distribution of official election notices to households across the country begins today, the Election Commission announced. This distribution process is set to continue until April 29.

In an effort to streamline the process, the Commission has designated Sunday, April 20, as a special day dedicated to the delivery of these notices.

Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake confirmed that arrangements are in place to conduct elections in nearly 250 local government institutions as scheduled. He added that decisions regarding institutions currently under prohibition orders will be made following the outcome of pending court hearings.

The Commission has also issued a request to all concerned parties: if any legal action has been initiated over the rejection of nomination papers submitted for the upcoming elections, copies of the petitions and relevant court rulings should be promptly forwarded to the respective District Election Offices.

The Election Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair and transparent electoral process and urged all stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring a smooth election.
