Maithripala attends 2025 World Summit of the Universal Peace Federation

Former Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena participated as the Chief Guest at the 2025 World Summit of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), held in South Korea from April 10 to 14.

Ex president Sirisena, who also serves as the Asia-Pacific Regional Chair of the International Peace Summit Council of the World Peace Conference, delivered a keynote address at the summit’s inaugural session. His speech focused on the urgent need for a bicameral global organization that brings together religion and politics to foster global peace and political stability.

During his address, Sirisena stressed the importance of a unified international approach to tackle pressing global challenges, including climate change and conflict management. He highlighted the role of spiritual and moral values in political decision-making and called for greater interfaith cooperation in global governance structures.
