In conjunction with the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations, the State Oil Anointing Ceremony is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 9:04 a.m. at the historic Natha Devalaya grounds, located within the Dalada Maligawa complex in Kandy.

The ceremony will be conducted under the patronage of the Most Venerable Mahanayake Thero of the Malwathu and Asgiri Ubhaya Viharas of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya of the Maha Viharavansika.
The religious significance of the event highlights the traditional customs associated with the New Year festivities, aimed at invoking blessings of health and prosperity for the nation.
The State Oil Anointing Ceremony will also be held under the patronage of the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa. Deputy Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni and Governor of the Central Province Professor S. B. S. Abhayakoon are also expected to attend the occasion.
Organizers have made all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event, which is a prominent part of the New Year rituals celebrated across the island.
