In preparation for the upcoming Sri Dalada Vandana pilgrimage set to commence on April 18, authorities have announced three designated access routes for devotees visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) in Kandy.
To ensure a smooth and organized flow of pilgrims, the following queuing paths have been established:
- D.S. Senanayake Street (Trincomalee Street Side) – A direct route leading up to the entrance of the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
- Red Bridge Route via Sangharaja Mawatha – Starting from the Red Bridge area (Rathu Bokkuwa) and proceeding along Sangharaja Mawatha, this path runs around the scenic Kandy Lake to the temple’s main entrance.
- Red Bridge Route Around Maligawa Premises – Also beginning at the Red Bridge, this route circles the Maligawa premises by the lake and leads to the main entrance.
Pilgrims are encouraged to follow any of these routes as they make their way to pay homage at the sacred temple during the Dalada Vandana period.
Authorities urge the public to cooperate with security and traffic personnel to ensure the safety and sanctity of the pilgrimage.
