The Meteorological Department's Natural Disaster Early Warning Center has issued an alert regarding the risk of strong lightning strikes in several regions across the country.
The warning, which will remain in effect until 11:00 PM today (April 6), indicates that areas in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as the districts of Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Kurunegala, and Hambantota, are at heightened risk.
The Department has urged residents in these areas to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the dangers posed by the lightning strikes. The public is advised to stay indoors, avoid open fields, and refrain from using electrical appliances during this time.
