Postal Workers’ Leave Suspended Until Election Concludes

In a recent announcement, Deputy Postmaster General Premachandra Herath confirmed that postal workers’ leave will remain suspended until the conclusion of the upcoming local government elections. This decision comes as part of preparations for the postal ballot process, which will play a crucial role in the election.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has revealed that postal ballot papers will be handed over to the post office tomorrow. These ballot papers are vital for voters who will be casting their votes by post in the upcoming local government elections. The postal voting process is scheduled to take place on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of this month, providing an opportunity for those who cannot vote in person on the election day.
In an effort to ensure broader voter participation, the Election Commission has also extended the postal voting period, offering an additional opportunity for voters to cast their votes on April 28th and 29th. This extension aims to accommodate individuals unable to participate during the initial voting dates.
With preparations in full swing, the authorities are focused on ensuring that the election process runs smoothly, with postal services playing a key role in facilitating voter participation.
