The 58th National New Rice Festival is being held today in front of the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, marking an important event in Sri Lanka's agricultural and cultural calendar.

The ceremony, dedicated to offering the first yield of the Maha Season rice harvest to the sacred Bodhiya, to graced by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The festival, which has been a long-standing tradition, highlights the significance of agriculture in Sri Lanka's cultural heritage. Farmers, dignitaries, and devotees gathered to celebrate the fruits of their labor, expressing gratitude for the bountiful harvest. The ritual offering to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi symbolizes prosperity and blessings for the coming year.
