Sri Lanka and India Set to Sign Key Bi-Lateral Agreements

Sri Lanka and India are set to sign a series of significant bi-lateral agreements focusing on defence, health, energy, and the digital economy during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to Sri Lanka from April 4 to 6, Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced .

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on April 4, with a formal welcome ceremony to be held at the Independence Square in Colombo on the morning of April 5. 

Following the ceremony, Modi will engage in high-level bi-lateral talks with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The two leaders are expected to issue a joint statement outlining the outcomes of their discussions.

As part of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will kick off work on the Sampur Solar Power Project, a key renewable energy initiative. He will also inaugurate the Dambulla Cold Storage Facility and virtually open several solar power units donated to religious sites across Sri Lanka.

On April 6, Modi is scheduled to visit the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, one of the most revered sites in Sri Lanka. Additionally, he will inaugurate the newly upgraded railway signaling system along the Mahawa-Anuradhapura line, a significant infrastructure improvement aimed at enhancing transportation efficiency.

The visit marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between Sri Lanka and India, with a focus on collaboration across multiple sectors critical to both nations' growth and development.
