Illegally acquired assets: Recovery Bill in parliment on 8 April

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that a bill to recover illegally acquired assets will be presented to Parliament on 8 April, aimed at restoring sovereignty and upholding the law.

He emphasized that the legislation is not for personal revenge but to address corruption. The President also revealed that proposals for the 2026 Budget will be accepted starting in June.

Notably, the Japanese Government has agreed to restart 11 projects funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Additionally, discussions with China have led to the resumption of the Kadawatha-Mirigama highway project, which had been suspended due to the country's bankruptcy, marking progress in economic stabilization.
