Illegally acquired assets: Recovery Bill in parliment on 8 April

He emphasized that the legislation is not for personal revenge but to address corruption. The President also revealed that proposals for the 2026 Budget will be accepted starting in June.

Regarding economic recovery, president Dissanayake highlighted the resumption of several foreign-funded projects previously halted due to the economic crisis. 

Notably, the Japanese Government has agreed to restart 11 projects funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Additionally, discussions with China have led to the resumption of the Kadawatha-Mirigama highway project, which had been suspended due to the country's bankruptcy, marking progress in economic stabilization.
