Muslims across Sri Lanka will celebrate Eid Al Fitr (Ramazan) on Monday, March 31, 2025, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

This official announcement was made by the Colombo Grand Mosque, the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, and the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.

A joint statement from these authorities confirmed that the Hilaal (Crescent) of the month of Shawwal 1446 AH was sighted on Sunday, March 30, 2025. As a result, it has been unanimously declared that the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH will fall on March 31, 2025.

Eid Al Fitr is one of the most significant religious celebrations in the Muslim world, marking the conclusion of fasting during the month of Ramadan. Sri Lankan Muslims will gather for prayers, enjoy festive meals, and exchange gifts as they come together to celebrate this joyous occasion.
