The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding the rising heat index, which is expected to reach the 'Caution level' in several parts of the country.

Areas including the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, along with Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Colombo, and Gampaha districts, are likely to experience significantly high temperatures that could pose discomfort and health risks.

Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, including staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and limiting prolonged exposure to the sun. Authorities have also recommended that people limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, especially between noon and 3 p.m.

The public is urged to remain alert to updates from the Meteorological Department and take action to protect their health and well-being during these extreme heat conditions.
