Former Public Security Minister, Tiran Alles, has been summoned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record a statement regarding the tragic death of a police sergeant from the Colombo Crimes Division. The officer was killed in a shooting incident near a hotel in Weligama, Matara, in 2023.
According to the CID, Alles has been called to appear tomorrow, March 31, 2025, to provide a statement in connection with the ongoing investigation. The department has indicated that the statement is being sought on the grounds that the former minister may possess crucial information regarding the incident.
