A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar causing the collapse of the air traffic control (ATC) tower at Naypyidaw International Airport, reportedly killing all personnel inside.

A powerful earthquake with its epicenter near Sagaing has struck the region, causing extensive damage and severe disruptions to local infrastructure. Buildings have collapsed, and roads have been rendered impassable, leaving countless residents in immediate danger.

The earthquake has led to widespread destruction, with many reports of injuries and casualties.

In addition to the devastation on the ground, aviation operations have been severely affected. Flights in and out of the area have been canceled or delayed as the airport's operations were disrupted by both the quake and subsequent aftershocks.

Rescue teams are currently on the ground, working tirelessly to assess the full scope of the damage. Emergency responders are focusing on locating survivors and providing immediate medical care. Authorities have prioritized search-and-rescue operations, with additional support coming from neighboring regions.

The government has urged citizens to stay in safe locations as aftershocks continue to impact the area. Foreign aid is being mobilized, with multiple countries offering assistance to support recovery efforts. Authorities have also issued warnings about the potential for further seismic activity in the coming days.

As rescue operations unfold, the scale of the damage remains unclear, but officials are preparing for a long and difficult recovery process.

Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport continues to operate as usual despite a recent earthquake in Myanmar. Authorities confirmed that flight schedules remain unaffected, with no reported disruptions to airport operations.

Due to the earthquake affecting multiple areas, THAI Airways has announced that services at Suvarnabhumi Airport will continue as usual from 3:00 PM onwards on 28 March 2025. Passengers traveling through Bangkok are advised to check with airlines for any potential updates.
