A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.6 hit central Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 17:17 UTC on March 28, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 6.4 km (4 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth.
This is the fourth M6+ earthquake of the day, following an M6.1 in the central Mid-Atlantic Ridge and M7.7 and M6.4 earthquakes in Myanmar.
The epicenter was located about 50 km (31 miles) SSE of Saint Peter and Saint Paul Archipelago, 586 km (364 miles) NNE of Fernando de Noronha, and 944 km (586 miles) NE of Natal, Brazil.
