An order has been issued prohibiting a group of protesters from entering the Hospital Square in the Maradana Police Division, the Ministry of Health, and blocking key roadways including Deans Road, Seram Road, Regent Street, and the highway around the National Hospital Square. The order also prohibits the group from holding demonstrations, marches, or standing in front of the Ministry of Health, thus preventing any obstruction to nearby hospitals.

The order was issued based on a request made by the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court and in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The move follows concerns raised by authorities regarding a planned protest and march that was expected to disrupt the area, block sidewalks, and cause traffic disruptions.

Among those named in the order are M.N.M. Nusri (Co-Convenor of the Joint Health Sciences Graduates' Union), N.D. Hewawitharana (Secretary of the Joint Health Sciences Graduates' Union), Chinthaka Prasad (President of the Joint Health Sciences Faculty Students' Union of the University of Peradeniya), Madushan Chandrajith (Convenor of the Inter-University Students' Union), and their respective members.

The prohibition is set to be in effect from 2:30 PM today, March 27, 2025, until 6:00 PM tomorrow, March 28, 2025. Authorities are urging the public to adhere to the directive to avoid any disruption to healthcare services and traffic flow in the area.
