Castle Street Hospital for Women in Colombo has registered nearly 40 sperm donors since the launch of its pioneering sperm bank on December 4. Dr. Ajith Kumara Danthanarayana, the hospital's director, confirmed that the initiative is receiving considerable interest, with daily telephone inquiries from potential donors seeking information.

The establishment of the sperm bank is a significant milestone in reproductive healthcare in Sri Lanka, aiming to support couples struggling with infertility. Dr. Danthanarayana emphasized that sperm donors must undergo a series of tests to ensure the quality and safety of the donation.

“We are committed to helping parents who are suffering from infertility,” Dr. Danthanarayana stated. “This sperm bank provides a crucial resource for couples in need.”
