Former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kulasiri Udugampola has been acquitted of all charges related to the alleged leak of sensitive information about military intelligence officers stationed at the Millennium City housing complex in Athurugiriya.

Judge Aditya Patabendige of the Colombo High Court delivered the verdict, stating that the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove the charges against Udugampola beyond a reasonable doubt. As a result, the court ruled for Udugampola's acquittal on all 22 counts brought against him.

The charges stemmed from an accusation that Udugampola had disclosed confidential details regarding military intelligence officers involved in operations critical to safeguarding Sri Lanka's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Despite the seriousness of the case, the court found that the evidence presented did not meet the required standard to support the claims, leading to the dismissal of all charges.

This ruling marks a significant conclusion to a high-profile case involving national security and the protection of sensitive information.
