The Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for several provinces and districts today, as showers and thundershowers are expected to occur after 2:00 p.m. in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, Kurunegala, and Mannar districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall, with amounts exceeding 50 mm, may be experienced in parts of Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts. Additionally, several spells of showers are likely to affect Uva province and the districts of Ampara, Batticaloa, and Hambantota.
Misty conditions are also anticipated during the morning in parts of Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, and Kurunegala districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. It is recommended to stay alert and ensure safety during these weather conditions.
