The Police Criminal Record Division (CRD) has announced that the fingerprints of approximately one million convicted criminals have been successfully digitized as part of an ongoing effort to modernize criminal identification processes. The digitization program, which began in 2013, has played a critical role in advancing law enforcement efforts to bring offenders to justice.

According to the CRD, this extensive database of digital fingerprints has already helped in solving numerous criminal cases by linking suspects to crimes they may have otherwise gone undetected for. The fingerprints are now stored in a state-of-the-art system that allows officers to quickly and accurately identify individuals with criminal records.

In addition to fingerprint digitization, the CRD has implemented cutting-edge facial recognition technology to further enhance crime detection. This new system enables police to track and identify suspects more efficiently by comparing facial features in real-time with the criminal database.

The integration of both digital fingerprinting and facial recognition is expected to significantly boost law enforcement's ability to prevent and solve crimes, creating a safer environment for the public.

As the digitization efforts continue to expand, police officials have expressed optimism about the potential for even greater breakthroughs in crime prevention and resolution, reinforcing their commitment to leveraging technology to improve public safety.
