Sri Lanka's inflation rate, as reported by the Department of Census and Statistics, showed a minor improvement in February 2025. The National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) revealed a modest rise to -3.9% in February, compared to -4.0% in January.
Although the inflation rate remains negative, the slight increase indicates a small easing in the overall price decline. Food inflation also saw a positive shift, improving to -1.1% in February from -2.5% in the previous month.
However, non-food inflation continued to show a significant negative trend, standing at -6.0% in February, slightly worse than the -5.2% recorded in January.
This data highlights the ongoing deflationary pressures in the economy, although the recent figures suggest a marginal stabilization in price reductions across the country.
