The Election Commission has called an urgent meeting with the secretaries of political parties today to discuss critical updates related to the upcoming elections

The session, chaired by Elections Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake, aims to inform party representatives about the maximum amount that candidates are allowed to spend during the election period, in line with the Elections Act.

In addition to the financial guidelines, the meeting will also address the introduction of a new, more accessible method for submitting election-related complaints.

As part of the Commission's ongoing efforts to improve transparency and accessibility, a mobile application will be launched, providing voters and candidates with a convenient platform to submit their complaints. This digital solution will complement the existing written method, further enhancing the efficiency of the complaint process.

The meeting is expected to clarify the rules and ensure all parties are on the same page regarding election spending limits and the new complaint system, helping to maintain fairness and integrity in the electoral process.
