
Police Heroes Remembrance Day was held at Police Headquarters

Regardless of age, gender, or status, all individuals are at risk due to organized crime groups and forces that drive society towards destruction
The Police, under the full supervision and guidance of Police Chief Priyantha Weerasuriya, work tirelessly to control the growing issue of drug abuse in the country.
They strive to create a peaceful environment and ensure the safety of all citizens. Police officers perform their duties around the clock, often risking their lives in the process.
On March 21, 2025, the 161st Police Heroes Remembrance Day was held with pride near the Police Heroes Memorial located at the Police Headquarters. Families of the police officers who died in the line of duty, both during the war and in maintaining law and order, as well as families of officers who were severely disabled, participated in the event.
Police Heroes Remembrance Day was held at Police HeadquartersA total of 30 family members of fallen officers and 20 family members of disabled officers, along with Police Chief Priyantha Weerasuriya, paid tribute by offering floral tributes at the memorial. As a mark of respect, Police Chief Weerasuriya also provided financial gift vouchers to all attendees
Additionally, the Police Heroes Remembrance Day was observed across all police stations island-wide, remembering the police officers who sacrificed their lives. On this day, we reflect on the ultimate sacrifice made by these officers, whose bodies were donated with great courage and whose souls gave their all for the freedom we now enjoy. This solemn commemoration took place on the 161st Police Heroes Remembrance Day.
