A training aircraft belonging to the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) crashed in the Wariyapola area today. The aircraft, identified as a K-8 jet manufactured in China, was on a routine training mission at the time of the incident.

According to an SLAF Spokesman, both pilots managed to eject safely from the aircraft and descended by parachute, avoiding any injuries. The aircraft, however, caught fire upon impact.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by SLAF officials. The pilots' swift action and successful ejection have been credited with preventing any harm.

Authorities are working to contain the fire and assess the damage. More updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
